During a lull in the witty banter...

A conversation I had at work a few weeks ago:

Colleague: "Oh, I see you're writing a blog. I didn't know you had a blog."
Me: "Yes I do."
Colleague: "What do you write about?"
Me: "Well, today I'm writing about mayonnaise."
Colleague: "Mayonnaise?"
Me: "Yes."
Colleague: "Righto."
Me: "Shall I send you the address of my blog?"
Colleague: "No."

It is better to have a permanent income than to be fascinating.

Hey! I loved your Hellman's blog! Your colleague really missed out, chica. (Tell him Americans LOVE your blog.)

My conversations tend to go that way too, Jo! Some people are just boring and lacking in curiosity and creativity and chutzpah (I have no idea what that means but I wanted another 'c' word).

Keep on blogging about the minutiae of life. One day historians will look back at blogs and find out everything they wanted to know about life in the early naughties. And we will be as famous as Livy and Pepys!

tell them you have an international crowd of admirers that enjoy your humouruous take on the mundane and simple things of life.

The other thing I do is hold a gun at their head and say "READ MY GODDAMN BLOG"

Well, the mayonnaise update is that I still haven't heard from Hellmann's, but I've finished the squeezy bottles and am back with a jar, so I'm much happier.

Chux - to call my readership a crowd is being very kind... :)

I thank you all for your supportive words.
